It's your wedding, they're your wedding invitations so you can have whatever wording you want on them, in saying that most people stick to a fairly traditional style of wording.

You need to remember the following information, regardless of your style:

  • Who the invitation is from (usually who is paying for the bulk of wedding expenses but not always)
  • Who is getting married - brides name first!
  • The time of the ceremony
  • The date of the ceremony
  • The venue of the ceremony
  • Reception venue
It is also useful to put on a dress code, if you are having one, and the time your celebration ends - this helps guests order transport in advance. You might want the R.S.V.P. date on there too.
